What is the CDG?
The purpose of the CDG is to function as an idea exchange and provide consultation to designers at the University of Florida. The group is also open to non-UF participants. There are many folks on campus that have the responsibility to produce designed material (web, print, video, etc.) but have no other designers that can review their works and provide valuable feedback. This can lead to stale and outdated designs. The CDG will discuss projects that relate to web graphics, print graphics, motion graphics, video, design theories, UI design and functionality, photography, and innovative thinking.
The CDG isn't only for folks that don't work with a creative team. We encourage existing creative teams to take part and share their projects, working experiences and workflow process.
Concept
The CDG will meet once a month for an hour (open). We will discuss new trends in design and inspirational works. Group members can present their current projects to the group and we will critique members' works. We will discuss how to improve designs/projects. Members will be able to post their projects' design process on the forum and fellow group members can comment on the process.
Most of the communications would take place on the forum where members can post their projects, concepts, etc and other members can comment, give feedback, and technical advice.
Sponsorship
The CDG is part of the UFCN (University of Florida Communications Network) due to the existing list of members and marketing opportunities, but will remain independent and free thinking.
Who Would Want to Be Members?
- Anyone that works in the creative field and produces actual "works"
- Folks interested in learning the creative process and want to work with fellow creative people
- Folks that lack a "creative team" and need inspiration and want to bounce ideas around
- Existing creative teams
- Developers. Developers and designers work hand and hand on "functional" projects ie. web apps.
